About Orvane Group and the lawful basis upon which it processes personal data
Orvane Group is a long-term acquirer of UK technical businesses in metrology, calibration, energy, data infrastructure and SaaS. We buy companies from founders who are planning their succession, keep them for the long term and place a sector-specialist operator partner in each one. Alongside acquisitions, we run an operational consulting practice.
It is in our legitimate interests to identify and contact businesses that may be suitable for acquisition by Orvane Group, and to develop a relationship with their owners until such time as an acquisition may take place. After an acquisition, it remains in our legitimate interests to manage the performance of the businesses we own, including appropriate risk management, exercising our legal rights and fulfilling our contractual and legal obligations.
We believe that great businesses deserve great successors. That is why we look for experienced operators to run the businesses we acquire. It is in our legitimate interests to research the market to find the people best suited to become operator partners, and in their legitimate interests to have the opportunity to do so.
Outside of our legitimate interests and any contractual agreements with you governing the processing of personal data, we obtain consent where practicable and proportionate, for example before sending you our monthly letter.

We do not allow our service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes, and we only permit them to process it for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.
How long we'll keep information
Our general retention policy is to keep information for a minimum of seven years. Your information may be transferred to and stored in the European Economic Area, for example by our email provider. In certain limited circumstances, information may be transferred outside the UK and the European Economic Area, for example where one of our service providers operates internationally, or where you or your professional advisers instruct us to deal with parties based overseas. Where we transfer personal data outside the UK, we apply safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement, to give it a level of protection appropriate to its sensitivity.
